Our School
Cyfeillion (Friends of) Ysgol Llwyngwril are running a fundraising and recycling project. We are distributing envelopes for you to put your unwanted mobile phones into. We will receive £2.50 for every phone donated. It does not have to be working. While we are on the subject... don't refuse the Tesco Computers for School Vouchers as they can be put to good use by the school. If you have difficulty getting them to the school, E-mail me and I will help. The school also collect the Nestle Box Tops for Books tokens on the top of Cereal Boxes. They all get valuable equipment for the school so get collecting!!!

Pupils receive Environmental Award

Ysgol Llwyngwril Pupils have received the nationally recognised John Muir Award this week. The pupils, aged 7 -11, each gained the award through taking part in the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales' 'Sense of Place' Project, which began in May this year. So far pupils have discovered their local history at the archives, studied marine life on the beach with the Special Area of Conservation Officer and learnt about their carbon footprints with the Centre for Alternative Technology, to name but a few.
'Sense of Place' is a 2-year environmental and heritage appreciation project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Countryside Council for Wales. So far over 500 young people have participated in the project across North Wales.
“Through providing young people with the opportunity to simply explore and enjoy their local countryside and communities, it is hoped that they will eventually play an active part in caring for them”, said CPRW Project Officer, Lucy Kew.
Work on the project at Ysgol Llwyngwril will continue in September with intergenerational storytelling workshops, with the local community. Finally, pupils will work with environmental artist Tim Pugh, using locally sourced natural materials to create individual pieces of art work depicting their favourite place. All work will be collated for an end of project exhibition in December.
If you would like to get involved, or for further information on the ‘Sense of Place’ Project please contact Lucy Kew, Project Officer, on 07930 314392 /

The above link will take you to the details of the initial protest over the closure of Ysgol Llwyngwril. This vote was lost but the fight to save our school is by no means over yet. We will continue to protest and make our objections known until we get a fair hearing and a sensible result.
