Congratulations to Debbie for reviving the news-mag, This is such a useful booklet to keep for reference to local business.

Thank you to everyone who sent their old mobile phones to school. We sent off 20 and received a very welcome cheque for £50. This is a scheme that we can continue with so we are happy to continue to receive your old phones which we will send off when we have enough

Residents of your village may be interested to know that I have unearthed 201 postcards of the village of which I    have collected 158. There must be another 50 out there to be found. The most prolific publisher is Francis Frith      followed by Valentines. I have found 21 different publishers of which 2 are local, Vaughan and Gwril cards, surprisingly no cards appear to have been issued of the railway station or the friends’ burial ground unless any one knows different. The cards I have date from between 1890 to 2007 and I would be interested to know if anybody has published any more recently.
If my large collection of post cards can help the village or any residents you only have to say.

My grandmother, Mrs. Fanny Russell moved to the village in about 1918 and bought one of the  cottages called     Tremifion on the opposite side of the Garth. Just down the road. Her 3 sons were educated at the old school in llwyn and I have 2, 1922 group photos of the school and masters. My grandmother later had a house built called tawelfan on the corner of the lane leading up to Llwyn Du Farm. Finally my mother and I lived at Tawelfan from about 1941-1945 but have kept in touch with the village ever since. We are very friendly with Swancot Pugh and her family at Henblas. Best wishes tony Russell.

Does anyone have any surplus mugs hanging about in their kitchen?
Perhaps you have an odd one or two that don't match the rest or you would just like a change and the old ones are too good to throw away!
Please donate them to the Ganolfan for everyone to use
They can be left in the Ganolfan, at the Riverside Stores or, alternatively, you can phone Sue or David on 01341     250 062 to have them picked up.
Users of the Ganolfan would, I'm sure, make good use of them.

Catherine Corrie is running residential courses at Rhiwgaeron, a centre for healing, meditation and self development, which is in a wonderful position above Llwyngwril.
